About

A bit about me

I'm a PhD student in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University and a graduate research assistant in Dr. William M. Moe's research group. My doctoral research is broadly focused on biological waste treatment, with emphasis on microbial processes relevant to wastewater treatment, nutrient transformation, and contaminant biodegradation.

My work combines cultivation-based microbiology, microbial enumeration, physiological characterization, molecular methods, and genomic analysis. I use these approaches to investigate microbial populations and characterize bacterial isolates relevant to environmental engineering.

I earned my BSc in Chemical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), where my earlier research included cleaner production in the power sector and a microalgal biofuel project. My chemical engineering background gives me a process-engineering perspective on biological treatment.

Investigating microbial populations and processes involved in wastewater treatment and nutrient transformation using cultivation-based and molecular approaches.

Contaminant Biodegradation & Bioremediation

Assessing microbial populations associated with contaminant biodegradation through cultivation-based experiments and characterizing relevant bacterial isolates.

Microbial Genomics & Bacterial Characterization

Using phenotypic characterization, 16S rRNA gene analysis, whole-genome analysis, and comparative genomics to characterize bacterial isolates, determine taxonomic relationships, and interpret genotype–phenotype patterns.
